Plain Jane

I would like to share this piece of news in the Star yesterday.

A 24 year old guy, who struck up a long-distance romance with a woman over the telephone, killed himself by throwing himself onto the path of an oncoming train. This was soon after their first date. He started the relationship with this woman after she accidentally called him on his handphone six months ago. So he finally meet her to fix a wedding date.

This is what I read to be so shocking.
However, their first date turned out to be a disaster. He must have been dreaming and thinking so much about this woman. He expected a beautiful woman but then he was disappointed to see that she turned out to be a plain Jane.

In this day and age, looks still counts. Everyday, we are bombarded with products to look good and beautiful. This man must have fallen for the woman for her charms. She must be very fluent in her words so much so that they were communicating for almost half a year. But then it just wasn't enough for the man. He expected the charms to come with beauty.  Maybe he was expecting too much. Alas! such a stupid way to end one's life.
Where is that "Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder"?
